If you are trying to get somewhere quickly not only is this annoying, it can be downright dangerous. Best Windscreen has a few tips to help you defog your windscreen and car glass quickly so you can get to where you need to go.

Why Do Car Windows Become Foggy?

Winter weather stays at a pretty low humidity point, and since cold air has less moisture than warm air, this sudden clash of climates results in the creation of condensation on the windscreen and car glass. Often, this fog doesn’t appear right when you turn on your car; it often shows up a few minutes after you start driving. This can create a decrease in visibility that is dangerous for anyone driving. There are a few ways to defog your windows quickly that are scientifically proven to work.

Turn up the Heat

The first thing you should do when you get in the car is to turn the heat on high. This will help burn off extra moisture that is stagnating inside your car.

Turn on the AC

After some of the moisture has burned away, you should turn on the AC to get rid of the rest. You may think that it will create fog, but it actually helps to dry out the internal environment.

Turn off the Air Re-circulation Setting

Once you have heated and cooled your interior, switch off the air circulator option on your temperature control panel. This will pull in cold air from outside and better regulate the temperatures to prevent fogging.

Crack Open the Windows

Once you have completed the above steps, crack your window just a bit to allow fresh air in from outside to help remove any lingering frost from your windscreen or your car glass. This will also help get rid of any lingering humidity inside of the car.

How Can I Prevent a Foggy Windshield?

If you want to avoid dealing with foggy windscreens and car glass entirely, you can apply some special solutions to your windows to prevent fogging before it ever starts.

To start, clean your car glass with a microfiber cloth and a glass cleaner that doesn’t contain ammonia. Then you will need to use an alcohol-based surface cleaner to de-grease your car glass. Then you will need to spray the anti-fogging solution onto the applicator that comes with the product. This micro-suede applicator will help spread the product evenly across the surface. Wipe the product across the glass vertically and then horizontally before allowing it to dry for 5 minutes. Once completely dry, buff your car glass to a high shine using your microfiber towel.
